4-day London Street Photo Tour completed
02nd January 2018

Shot on iPhone at Liverpool Street Station, London

4 days x 4 hours = my London street photo tour completed for my visiting guest from Cairo, Egypt.

The up-side to starting a photo walk in London at around 8.00am, in the holiday season between Christmas and New Years, is that the usually super busy tourist locations were more or less deserted, apart from a handful of early risers and work commuters passing through. So it felt quite magical and peaceful at famous London locations like Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street and St. Pauls.

It was also a great opportunity to explore and research some new side streets and passages, as well as visit some old haunts I haven't been for ages. We met a lot of interesting and cool people along the way and creatively we found some great scenes to photograph. I will revisit some newly discovered cool locations and see if I can nail the ideal shot in the process.

I will review the photos I took over this four-day street photo tour and post any favourites I find on here soon. It was really great fun to do, but also challenging, seeing as I am not your typical early-riser, morning person who gets up at 6.00am! So now I must sleep, with this job done with hopefully no more super early starts for me, for a while at least!

Female street photographers
11th April 2016
Honoured to be one of the female street photographers on this updated 2016 list. The list is meant to serve more of a 'who's out there' list rather than a top ten, favourites type list.

As mentioned in Casy's blog post, recognising woman in photography, particularly in the genre of street photography, where we appear to be the minority, when it comes to top streettog lists, featured publications, galleries, exhibitions, received recognition, awards, etc is a step in the right direction. So, am honoured to be in the good company of talented women from around the world, who are also into street photography! Click this link to check out the Female Street Photographers list.
British Life Photography Awards - Private View Evening
03rd March 2015
Winners from the British Life Photography Awards were invited to a special Private View evening at the Mall Galleries in London.

We received a copy of the brilliant British Life Photography Awards Portfolio 1 book which all our photos are featured in.

British Life Photography Awards - Street Life winner
02nd March 2015
So, I was surfing about on the internet and stumbled across an online photography contest called the British Life Photography Awards. I had heard of them before, but had never entered before as I was either busy doing something else or I missed the entry deadline, etc.

Anyway, last year Spring/Summer I saw there was a street photography category and thought, I'll have a go and sign up, enter a few pics then thought nothing more of it. I actually forgot I had entered.

So, by the time I received a random phone call out of the blue one cold and dark November 2014 evening suggesting I had actually won first place in the Street Life category, I thought it maybe someone's prank until the lady from the BLPAwards at the other end officially described my photo and that she would contact me in writing to officially provide full details of the prize and awards evening next year.

To cut a long story short, I was on strict instruction not to announce my news until it was officially announced by the British Life Photography Awards, which was very difficult for me! But here we are, March 2nd 2015 and I have just seen a article in the Metro newspaper with my street photo included.

I will be going to the Private Evening tonight in fact to collect my prize and meet the other winners.

Check out the photo and the other British Life Photography Award winners on the official BLPA website
